This site is crafted by me, Xanik. I’m a 26-year-old gay male living in Nashville, Tennessee. Sometimes I blog here a lot, other times I blog HERE, which is a gaming guild’s blog. Thanks for stopping by and please, leave some comments! Positive or not, I love to hear what other people think about my writing!
What Interests Me? (And What Often Inspires Me To Write?)
Technology, gadgets, gaming, food, personal issues, religion, and science all are subjects that seem to grab my attention. ‘Hot Topics’ seem to do that the most. Those are usually the ‘most talked about’ subjects of the day on the news/blog sites. I do enjoy just throwing my opinion out there for people to read, even if I never become as successful as some other blog sites out there. When it comes to my job, I also enjoy venting, just like everyone else, LOL.
Where I Get Inspiration To Write
There are a large number of sources that I go to that I get inspired to write. Some of them are quite typical, others are not. To make it easier to read them, I use Google Reader. Here they are, in no particular category order:
BBC News
CNET News
CNN
Consumerist
Digg
Engadget
Fark
MSNBC
PC World News
Techdirt
Where Else To Find Me & My Content?
Some of these sites aren’t used terribly much anymore for various reasons, but you may find them interesting none the less…
- Digg
- My Google Reader’s Shared Items
- Last.FM
- MySpace (Rarely Used These Days. I will soon import the blogs on MySpace to my new home.)
- Vox (No Longer In Service.)
What Religion Am I?
For someone who writes a lot about some of the more ‘absurd’ aspects of Christianity, I guess it’s not surprising I’m not a Christian myself. So, what am I? I’ve called myself ‘Wiccan’ before, but that doesn’t really fit anymore either. When it boils down to it, I believe there to be a higher being/force/whatever of some kind at work. I’m certainly spiritual, and I firmly believe there are forces out there we haven’t yet discovered and can’t understand. Overall, I have experienced a few religions, attended some churches, and read some theologies. I don’t believe that organized religion is for me. That’s not to say that I’m an atheist, it’s just that, well, I don’t seem to fit into any other category that I’ve found, LOL.
Work
For the past, let’s say seven years or so, I’ve worked in various customer service call centers. Before that, I’ve worked for Dell and another company doing quality-assurance work, and when I was younger I did the fast-food thing. (McDonald’s, KFC, etc.) I have a fairly large slant towards customer service. Anyone who’s ever worked in the field would certainly agree with me in that it’s not the easiest line of work, but it certainly has its rewards. Eventually though, I want to go back to school and maybe get into human resources at some point.
Gaming
I spend a LOT of my time playing World of Warcraft. (With my partner, by the way.) Rag on me all you want, but I get a lot of enjoyment out of it. For those interested, I’m on the Farstriders server, Alliance, in the guild Ex Cinis Cineris. (Founding member, by the way!)
(More To Come!)
Hi Xanik (Aaron),
I just wanted to say that I am a fan of your blog. I ran across your site while searching for a wisdom quote for a birthday card I’m making. I’m a fan of blogs that talk about creative ideas and the potential to achieve your personal and professional best. Yours is insightful and clear, and the wisdom you provide is inspirational. Thank you!
Regards,
Ashley
Hey Aaron!
We might have run into each other at some point. Or maybe not.
Anyway, it’s nice to have another gay Nashville blog to read.
Come check mine out sometime!
