Original Article HERE On Torrent Freak
I’ll admit, that I recently purchased a year’s worth of hosting for a special blog I want to work on. (Though, truth be told, it may not pan out.) At any rate, I was a bit concerned about the terms of service. It basically stated that the host could pull my site at any time, for any content that was considered ‘immoral.’ That bothered me a little, but then I realized that I probably wouldn’t have to worry unless the site gets popular, since it won’t have anything illegal. Never the less, I am concerned that it’s a possibility. If that happens, I may have a new home available at The Pirate Bay.
The Voice Of The Net Stutters
I can remember a day when there was all kinds of content on the internet. Everything from support for apple orchards, to how to build a bomb. Now-a-days, it seems like a lot of people want to censor one of the very last electronic frontiers. Wikileaks is a good example of a brave site willing to throw down the gauntlet, and let information be free. I think this should be encouraged. To me, freedom of speech has incredible power for the people, and besides, we know that things like Golden Shield really don’t work to censor people for long in the tech world.
Would I Use It Though?
Maybe. I’m not sure if I really want my voice to be heard along-side of The Pirate Bay’s, but if I had no other choice, why not? Even if I had no ability to make any money from my blog, I would be just as happy to put my content on there, just so I can continue to write what I want to. I think for a lot of bloggers, that’s why they blog in the first place: to write about whatever they damn-well please.
This is good info, thanks.
Bookmarked a few places.
